Teen Mom star Kailyn Lowry’s firstborn, Isaac, who now goes by the name Elliott, came out in the open and accepted that he is gay. Elliott appeared on Kailyn’s podcast and shared his side of the story. He came out as gay on last week’s episode. This week, on a bonus episode, he shared how his father and paternal family reacted or handled the situation. It is difficult for traditionalist families to accept such a massive change, but his family eventually came around.
Elliott shared that he had a one-on-one conversation with his dad, Jo, before he revealed his real identity to the world. So, Jo was not surprised or taken aback by the revelation. Elliott admitted he accepted his real identity and fully came to terms with his sexuality in seventh grade. He further added that a classmate outed him in fifth grade, leading his dad to discover he was gay. Elliott didn’t openly discuss his feelings and sexuality with his dad. But he was more open with Jo’s mother and sister.

Coming out is never easy, and it was especially tough for Kailyn Lowry’s son, Elliott. In a recent podcast, he shared how someone leaked his prom photos before he was publicly out.
A junior male student had invited him, and though his family knew about his sexuality. However, Elliott wanted to share his truth on his own terms with the world. The leak devastated him, and he ugly cried at prom and once home. Kailyn admitted it was a huge violation of privacy, especially since Elliott is still a minor.

Elliott, in his mom’s podcast, revealed that when he was in fifth grade, a classmate outed his sexuality to his dad. However, it was not until seventh grade that he fully understood and accepted his identity. Furthermore, he added that it bothered him when people used to talk about his mother or his relationship with his father.
People always thought that Jo would be disappointed and not happy with the fact that he is gay. Elliott added how it affected him when people did not understand his side of the story. So, unless he tells them, they really can’t know him. Talking about his grandma, he added that he loves her to death, but she is very spiritual and started talking about God and involving spirituality in everything.
Elliott thought it wasn’t necessary, but his grandma was like that. She also said that he shouldn’t go and tell people that he is gay because he is not even sure of it as of now. After Janet’s reaction, he avoided discussing his sexuality with everyone. But now that he has grown older and is still gay, she has realized that this is his identity. He also understands that it is hard for her.
Even his grandfather was shocked when he found out that Elliott was gay. Initially, it was very awkward, but with time, they started feeling comfortable around everything. He also added that his aunt made him feel good about his sexuality and did not judge him. He felt very relaxed and safe around her.
