According to Theashley, only 170,000 same-day viewers watched the premiere, and its ratings were a measly 0.07. Episode 2 had only 135,000 same-day viewers and an even lower 0.05 rating. The fifth episode had 204,000 same-day viewers. This was a grand viewership increase, and the MTV show was put at no. 39 on cable show rankings. However, this episode differed slightly from the previous ones in that it had Kayla Sessler.
Episode 6 got 271,000 same-day viewers and was no. 21 on cable show rankings. It also had a high rating. Many fans think Kayla’s presence might be responsible for the rating spike. They think Kayla and her baby daddy dramas are the main entertainers. While Mackenzie McKee was also on the show, the fans seemed to be partial to Kayla. So, they want Kayla to become a series regular on another spinoff.
One fan, S W, even launched a petition on change.org. They requested Paramount, MTV, and 11th Street Productions to make Kayla a regular on The Next Chapter. According to the petitioner, viewers didn’t like that MTV had canceled Young & Pregnant. They loved watching Kayla on the Teen Mom spinoff. Her journey was “inspiring and relatable.” The petition creator believes Kayla’s story is just beginning. So they want the networks to “bring” Kayla back on the “franchise.” The petition already had 85 signatures since it began on Monday.

The petitioner noted that MTV disappointed many fans when they canceled Young & Pregnant. Fans loved watching Kayla on the show. Her “journey as a young mother” was “relatable” and inspired many people. The fans loved her “grace” and “determination.” According to the fans, Kayla’s story has just begun.
So the fan created the online petition to request “MTV, Paramount, and 11th Street Productions.” They wanted them to make Kayla a full-time cast member.
