The film’s shooting was temporarily halted, but the crew resumed production after a year. The film recently premiered with limited theatrical releases on May 2. It even had a home release on video-on-demand. However, the film failed to impress fans and is a massive flop.

Rust debuted in theaters on May 2 and is even available on Prime Video. Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was given an 18-month jail term this year after she was found guilty of Hutchins’ death. The Baldwins viewers did not like that the producers released Rust after the unfortunate accident.
A fan added that they should not have released the film after such an unfortunate accident happened during the shoot. They think it’s very creepy that the producers are still thinking of profit and making money out of someone’s misery. Alec Baldwin is the co-producer of the film.

After the incident, authorities held the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, accountable for the accident, leading to her imprisonment. Although the film shooting paused for several months, the crew chose to resume production. They even decided that all the proceeds from the film would go to Hutchins’s young son.
The film’s producers appointed her widower as the executive producer. However, the film failed to impress fans. Rust had limited theatrical releases and was released in just 115 theatres. It even had a few video-on-demand home releases. It stars Alec Baldwin as Harland Rust, an outlaw who comes out of hiding to rescue his strange grandson. His grandson is sentenced to death for accidentally killing a rancher. The film has a 42% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
It received mostly negative reviews from fans, with a few positive ones. In terms of its box office collection, Rust accumulated only $25,000 over the weekend. If you go by the statistics, the film is a massive flop. A few months ago, the completion of the film featured prominently in a Hulu documentary. It was titled, Last Take: ‘Rust’ and the story of Halyna. Hutchins’ close friends made it with artistic collaboration with Rachel Mason.
Furthermore, towards the end of the trailer and even the film’s director, Souza, and all the cast members paid a special tribute to Hutchins. Alec and the other actors were also very thankful for her contribution to the world of film and drama. However, it will not always be easy to overcome the loss.
