When Alec and Hilaria Baldwin introduced their show via a trailer in 2024, everyone was very excited for it. The Baldwins was one of the most anticipated shows. However, when they began airing it, things went haywire. Fans quickly understood that the show was just an initiative to whitewash Alec’s image after the infamous Rust incident. He had fired a gun he believed was a prop on the set of the movie Rust, but it contained a real bullet. The shot tragically killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.
There were many episodes when the family talked about how the incident affected them. Viewers thought it was quite absurd as they could have used the opportunity to shine the line on the deceased and the injured individuals. However, they didn’t like how Alec used it as an opportunity to make a comeback in the industry. Well, it didn’t work as the show hasn’t got good ratings since it went on air.
The Baldwins: Will There Be A Season 2?
There have been all sorts of rumor mills going around. Sources said that The Baldwins are not doing well on TV, which has also caused a rift between Alec and Hilaria. Apart from this, only 680,000 people watched the show, giving it a 0.68 rating. That’s fewer viewers than those who watched women’s college basketball on ESPN and less than TLC’s average nightly audience of about 850,000.
So, it’s clear that the future of the show doesn’t seem bright. Usually, when a show does exceedingly well, they get renewed for a new season when the current one is still on air. It happened with Baylen Out Loud. However, the season finale of The Baldwins aired recently and there have been no announcements from the network about considering a renewal or confirming there will be another season.
In an interview, Hilaria had also emphasised that their decision to depict her family’s life on TV was very “raw” and they took a “lot of chances” and they want to see where it would “lead them.” They wanted to see what it would feel like to “have it out there” and then they will see if “people like it.” Well, she said these things when the show was new. But after the finale, there has been no updates.
Neither The Baldwins nor TLC has shed light on whether they have plans to continue airing the show or not.
