The Young And The Restless Cast Mourns As Jerry Douglas (John Abbott) Passes Away At 88

The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest that it is a sad day for long-time Y&R viewers. As per the latest spoilers, John Abbott portrayer Jerry Douglas has passed away at the age of 88. John was Abbott’s family patriarch and father of Jack Abbott. Jerry’s character John had passed away in 2006 on the soap opera. But, now, he himself passed away, and it is a sad day.

Jerry has been a part of the CBS soap opera for a very long time. He left his mark with the 900 episodes that he was a part of on the soap. He had a great relationship with John, who seems to be trying to live up to his father. John strives to keep his father’s legacy alive and be a man like him. Y&R viewers will most probably work to keep his mark alive too. Celebdirtylaundry.com reports that Jerry was fighting a brief illness, and that is what took him away from his beloved fans.

If Douglas was alive, he would have celebrated his 89th birthday this November 12, 2021. However, the silver lining here is, he had met everyone he loved before he left us forever. He had a fun luncheon back in October and celebrated his birthday that time. This luncheon was organized by Douglas’ TV daughter Eileen Davidson and many other familiar faces from the TV showed up for this. It is good to know that people came together to celebrate their beloved Jerry.

Other than The Young and the Restless, Douglas has had a long career in the film and television industry too. He has brought many roles back to life. He was also a part of some theater productions and sang a few songs. Douglas was a multi-talented individual, and he will continue to live through all the characters he has brought to life.

Jerry’s friends and castmates from his various shows have taken on Twitter to mourn this loss. Michelle Stafford took onto Twitter to say that she will miss Jerry. Doug Davidson also took onto to talk about this loss. Take a look at their posts here.

Regardless, we send all of Jerry’s fans and family heartfelt condolences. May his soul rest in peace. He has been a part of The Young and the Restless for a long time, and he will always be a part of the show indeed.
