The Young And The Restless viewers would have gotten the news about Jordi Vilasuso leaving the soap opera. However, what we don’t know is why he is leaving. But, here is the truth about it. In the podcast Jordi runs with his wife, he revealed the real reason and it is not what we had expected.
Speaking about this, the actor says that he re-signed a deal with The Young and The Restless back in October for another three years. However, there is a six-month interval where the show can decide whether they want to re-sign with the actor or not and that is what had happened there. The Young And The Restless decided to not work with him.
Thinking about it, the actor says that he should have seen all of that written on the walls because the scripts he was getting were minimal. With that said, he did not get worried about this because of the way storylines were moving forward. It seemed like Rey’s position on the soap was secure. After all, The Young And The Restless was shifting to a romance between Rey and Chelsea. But, it looks like the Soap Gods had another plan.
Speaking more about his pairing, Vilasuso revealed that he and Melissa were extremely excited about this storyline. He has known her for more than ten years and now he was getting to work with her. So, Jordi was happy about it. But, he is a little sad about this contract shakeup.
Vilasuso says that the character of Rey was extremely important to him. Not only because it was on The Young And The Restless but because he was getting to represent where he comes from. The actor even took onto his Instagram to share the news and the reason.
He says that playing the character of Rey Rosales and being a part of the Rosales family was a beautiful chapter in his life. Vilasuso is proud that he could represent his culture on one of the biggest daytimes. He also thanked The Young And The Restless and the cast that gave him the opportunity to impact millions of people.
Vilasuso’s co-stars and friends started telling him how much they loved him as soon as the actor shared this news. Tracy Bergman tells Jordi that he is amazing and she cannot wait to see what he does next. Melissa Ordway says that she loves her and her beautiful family.
Vilasuso’s on-screen wife- Sharon Case says that she is very sorry that he had to go. She called him a wonderful scene partner and a good man. She thanked him and said that she is lucky to have worked with him.
