When it was time for Michael to return, he went missing. He didn’t receive any calls or replied to any of his wife’s texts. It looked like something bad had happened, which had obviously raised his wife’s concerns.
We know that Lauren was already concerned about her husband’s involvement in the Newman family drama. She was skeptical about Michael working with Victor, but now that her husband was missing, she started her own investigation along with Kevin Fisher.

Viewers have no idea what happened to him, was he held hostage, beaten, or what else?
