TLC Stars Who Lost Their Furry Friends
Pet parents know that losing a pet is just as hard as losing a person. It can be equally heartbreaking for someone whose life revolved around their best furry friend. Even TLC stars have suffered the loss of their pets. In April 2022, “1000-Lb. Sisters” star Amy Slaton lost her dog, Little Bit. She shared the heartbreaking news in an Instagram post, writing, “RIP Little Bit. I love you so much.” Her dog had been diagnosed with cancer. In December 2022, she announced that she had welcomed a new addition to her family—a new Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix named Daisy Mae.
In August 2022, “Outdaughtered” stars Uncle Dale and Aunt Kiki lost their dog, Kobe. The couple, who are friends and neighbors of the Busby family, are staples in their lives. They informed fans about the loss through an Instagram post, writing that they were blessed to have Kobe. Later, in November, they introduced their new fur baby to everyone—a petite golden doodle named Tiger. Furthermore, “Sister Wives” star Janelle Brown lost her pet in March 2023. In an Instagram post, she revealed that she lost her beloved pet, Jack. She admitted that Jack had been sick with a disease for some time, and he was unable to recover from it, and sadly passed away.
TLC Stars Who Lost Their Beloved Ones
In the last few years, several TLC stars have lost someone very close to them. Amanda Wilhelm from “90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days” is someone who has lost many dear ones. She lost her husband, Jason Wilhelm, to cancer in March 2022. Sadly, just a month later, she lost her sister for unknown reasons. Back in 2019, she lost her mother at the age of 48. However, she did not lose hope. She cared for her two children, Aleena and Jr., Alone. Amanda also joined the TLC show a few months after her husband’s passing. She later connected with Romanian native Razvan Ciocoi.
Moving ahead, Olivia Plath from “Welcome to Plathville” went through a really challenging time. In May 2023, she learned that her 15-year-old brother, Micah Meggs, had died after being struck by a car while riding his electric bike on Route 220 in Virginia. She shared the tragic news on Instagram. Olivia also revealed that she had not been allowed to see her younger brother for many years due to religious differences with her family. She wrote that she cannot stop thinking about the memories she created with her brother. Plath was nine years older than Micah.
“Sister Wives” stars Kody Brown and Janelle Brown lost their beloved son, Garrison, last year. In March 2024, it was revealed that their son died by suicide at the age of 25. Later, both parents opened up about his death on their Instagram accounts. Janelle wrote that her son was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him and that his death left a big hole in everyone’s life. Kody shared similar sentiments in his own post. Elsewhere, this year, the Putman family suffered a huge loss.
On September 27, 2025, the Putman family revealed that several family members had tragically died in a car crash: Bill, a.k.a. “Papa,” Barb, a.k.a. “Neenee,” and “Aunt Meghan” lost their lives in the accident. They also disclosed that Blake, Lulu, Alena, Noah, and Gia were involved in the crash as well. Fortunately, they survived, though they suffered some injuries and were recovering from them. The family added that their fans’ support means more than words can express. People often say, grief is the amount one pays for love.
