Fans can’t stop talking about the chaos around TLC Unexpected stars Kris and Falen Vaughn, as things have suddenly gotten much messier. On the surface, what looks to be a typical relationship was actually an ocean of emotional chaos, financial difficulties, and legal battles. Their story, which includes repossession and bankruptcy filings, reads more like a reality TV plot twist than actual events.
What really grabbed attention was that everything happened in less than a year. Then came a divorce, a bankruptcy, and even a foreclosure. What specifically went wrong behind closed doors, then, and how did things get out of control so quickly? Keep on reading to know about Kris and Falen Vaughn.
In the previous ‘TLC Unexpected’ episode, Falen had already faced criticism, especially in scenes involving Bella and Hunter. Her actions showed a pattern that many found troubling. In one shocking moment, she smiled and expressed her wish for Bella and Hunter to have a daughter who would take care of another child.
People took notice of the message. Fans quickly criticized her, and the backlash only grew stronger. Many now attach the duty to Falen’s parenting rather than Bella’s. Many viewers also brought up her past actions, stating that her close relationship with Hunter and Wes seemed excessive and quite worrisome.
Just months before their marriage broke down, TLC Unexpected stars Kris and Falen Vaughn filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, marking their lowest point financially. Their home, valued at $120,000, made up the largest portion of their listed total assets of approximately $144,325. They still owed $105,000 on it, though. Including taxes and an important part of unsecured loans, their total debt exceeded $275,000. They had only $25 in cash and another $25 in their account, which was shocking.

Their spending habits also received criticism. The couple owed $15,000 on a $11,000 Can-Am 4-wheeler that they had in addition to 29 firearms. Even during financial strain, they paid $319 a month for it. That wasn’t the only thing. They also owed money for expensive things they no longer even owned. In reality, creditors seized two Chevy trucks, a camper, and a pontoon boat in 2015. They still owed an incredible $126,000 on them, though. The official value of those assets fell to $95,000, yet the debt did not disappear overnight. Their situation worsened as the expenses kept mounting.
The court approved their bankruptcy in March 2016, giving them a new start on paper. However, their personal lives did not bounce back in the same way. Falen filed for divorce just one day before the court granted the final decree. Even though Kris kept the house in the end, things didn’t get better. In the same year, he stopped making mortgage payments, and the house finally went into foreclosure.
The property was sold at a public auction in October 2017. The story didn’t end here, even after all of this chaos. In an unexpected turn of events, Kris and Falen reunited and got married again in October 2021. Fans were shocked and interested by their reunion after everything they had been through.
