The TLC Unexpected Season 7 trailer teased a serious health issue with Amya’s delivery. Her weight posed some complications to her birth. Moreover, the teen mom was in 23 hours of painful labor with an epidural. However, when she first held her little bundle of joy in her arms, her expression said it all. She proudly gushed, “I did it, mama!”

Her mother, too, got emotional as she cooed to her baby girl for being so brave. Amya then remarked that her baby boy was so perfect as she cradled him against her chest. In a later confessional, Amya’s mother hoped she would be a better mom than her. It understandably led to an emotional exchange, with Amya getting teary-eyed. She then assured her mother that she was already the best mom.

A recent clip from TLC Unexpected Season 7 showed Amya and Jose struggling to care for their baby as first-time parents. Amya’s mother, however, has been the sense of reason for the teen parents. This time around, she held the teen parents accountable for their responsibilities as parents. She shared her words of wisdom.

The clip began with the trio discussing baby Sammy’s formula. Apparently, Mama G had brought the formula the night before. She reminded the couple that it wasn’t her responsibility. Then, she turned to Jose to talk about him getting a job. She called it a part of adult life. In a later confessional, she acknowledged that Jose is still a kid.

However, she pointed out how he and her daughter had made adult decisions, so they have to step up. She additionally gave them a reality check by breaking down the situation in numbers. The strict mother outlined that if Jose worked 25 hours a week at $12 per hour, part of his income would be enough to cover the responsibilities of baby Sammy. “25% is fair of your income to contribute to the household income,” Amya’s mother stated.

Then Jose asked whether this setting applied to every month. The lady of the house affirmed, “Every single month.” Moreover, she added that every responsibility related to Sammy was for Jose and Amya to bear.
