Netflix’s romance-drama, Virgin River is coming back. Netflix had renewed Virgin River Season 3 back in December 2020. This renewal wasn’t a surprise, given the way the second season of the series ended. The show had a cliff-hanger ending and left a number of open ends to the story. So, when the show comes back, it will indeed tie up all these loose ends.
The biggest question that viewers have is, what would happen to Doc and Hope? Doc and Hope reunited as a couple after years of separation. Will their reunion will get sabotaged? Then another major storyline that needs to be addressed is, Who shot Jack? Will he survive? Recently, the creators and the actors of the series have hinted at what would happen next on the show. Virgin River Season 3: What Would Happen To Doc?
The second season of the series left Doc’s fate quite unclear, making all fans wondering what could be happening to him. In an interview with ETOnline, the series lead- Alexandra Breckenridge, our Mel, confirmed that she has some idea about what would happen to Doc and Hope’s relationship, but she wouldn’t tell anyone anything.
Even after saying that she wouldn’t tell anyone anything, the actress did hint something. She says that the fans are quite right to worry about Doctor’s health. She confirms that they are all led to believe that there will be some kind of health issue. There will be something that goes down. While they don’t know what it really is, we know something will happen. While fans did not know what was that something that Doc discussed in his medical visit, it seems quite clear that it will have something to do with the physical well-being.
Hope’s health condition had initially made her consider her decision. So, she and Doc decided to give their relationship another chance. If Doc is suffering some debilitating diagnosis, their reunion might become too little, and it would be too late if things become worse for both of them in the next season. Breckenridge says that the whole thing is kinda scary because the Doc and Hope just got back together. They have lost all the time. So, she hopes that something terrible does not happen. While she knows what would happen, she wouldn’t say anything about it.
Who Shot Jack?
Another big storyline that threw fans into turmoil was when Mel found Jack Sheridan on the floor in his bar bleeding with an open gunshot wound in the finale episode of the second season. The big question that all fans want the answer to is, what would happen to him? Would he be so lucky to recover soon?
In an interview with TV Line, the showrunner- Sue Tenney, stated that this “Who Shot Jack?” is a mystery that they can play with over several seasons. While none of the cast members or the creators have given any hint on who might have pulled the trigger, Tenny revealed that there would be a time-jump bigger than the one they saw between the first and the second season. That would indeed give Jack some time to recover. That means the good news is that Jack will indeed recover.
Would Love Bloom Between Ricky and Lizzie?
Jack and Mel have been the hottest couple in Virgin River, but it does not look like they are the only ones. The finale of the second season built a Romeo-Juliet sort of dynamic between Ricky and Lizzie. Their story is far from over. Both the characters are great together. They are polar opposites, but it is great.
In an interview, Tenny says that the next season will dive into Lizzie’s past and her past relationships. It would become very clear why she would find someone like Ricky so attractive. Tenny continues to say that the books have Ricky in fantastic arcs that he would like to explore. They got into it a bit in the second season, and that they would explore more of it in the next seasons.
While there is no official release date for Virgin River Season 3, we can expect the show to release sometime in November-December 2021 or the first half of 2022.
