Sumit’s father Anil started off by saying that they can’t accept their relationship because it’s odd. His mother accused him of thinking selfishly to which he said that he actually did what they wanted once. She said that he was only thinking about his happiness with total disregard for his parents’ happiness. That’s when he brought up his arranged marriage which he got into against his wishes.
He asked about why they didn’t think of his happiness while marrying him off to a strange woman. Sumit’s mother defended herself by saying that they had no idea she would turn out the way she did. But she accepted that it was their mistake to which he yelled and asked why they didn’t help him. Sumit’s father too accepted that it was a bad marriage. But he stated in the confessional that walking away from it and having a relationship with a woman twice his age were two separate things.

He had told them three times that he wanted to commit suicide which further made his mother cry. Fortunately, he got out of the situation and ended the marriage. In this season, he is taking care of the divorce and trying his best to convince his parents to accept Jenny. But his parents just can’t wrap their head around the idea of Sumit and Jenny being together.
Jenny came to Sumit’s house for the first time pretending to be a tourist. His parents welcomed her with open arms and treated her really well. But after a while, his father started to notice that they have been spending all day together. It was when Sumit sneaked out to her room at night he knew there was something going on.
The can’t accept the fact that their son is going out with a woman twice his age. As we know, Jenny is even older than Sumit’s mother. From what it looks like, his parents seem adamant even though they feel sorry for him.
