Doubling Down With The Derricos: Karen Wants To Prioritise Self-Care & Her Kids
Karen and Deon filed for divorce on June 4, with the split finalised just two days later. Despite their separation, they have maintained an amicable relationship for the sake of their children. The former couple will share legal and physical custody of their 13 minor children equally. Deon will pay $1,166 per month in child support, while Karen will cover the children’s medical insurance. Their eldest daughter, Darian, who is not a minor, is not included in the filing.
Following the surprising news of their divorce, Karen took to Instagram on June 20 to provide an update and share her priorities. “I am doing as good as can be,” she said in a video posted on June 20. “The children are doing good. It’s summertime, we definitely want to keep them all busy and occupied, and that’s the plan right now.”
Karen took the moment to thank her fans for the supportive messages. “I feel the love. I genuinely feel the love. It’s, like, I can almost get emotional,” she said. “To see the outpour is just amazing. So I just wanted to tell you all, thank you for the love and support.”
Karen also mentioned that the children are doing as well as they can. Karen then discussed her self-care plans and mentioned her interest in taking a vacation. “There’s a lot of speaking engagements coming my way that I have to go through and choose where I’m gonna go, but I am thankful and grateful for that – to tell my story, my journey.”
The Doubling Down With The Derricos star continued, “So I am definitely looking into taking care of Karen for a while,” she added. “I just wanna thank you all, I appreciate your love and support for our family,” With this, Karen concluded in the video.

A recent episode of Doubling Down With The Derricos showed Karen experiencing a health scare that alarmed the entire family. Paramedics diagnosed the issue as altitude sickness and dehydration. However, this chaotic moment led Deon to express his feelings for Karen.
“We just need our family and our health,” Deon said. “[When] we go back home, you know, we’re going back to the house that has all these challenges and issues. But it’s like our reality is, no matter what, we can get through it.
