'Married at First Sight': Fact – Cast Members Sign A Prenuptial Agreement?

Married at first sight spoilers

‘Married at First Sight’ is an incredible show in which experts take matters into their own hands and help people find a suitable partner. But let’s face it, the contestants of the show are actually marrying total strangers. Isn’t that too big of a risk? If they don’t get along for a significant amount of time, of course, divorce is always an option. But what about financial risks, alimony, and other similar hassles? Do they sign a prenup? Let’s dive into the details.

‘Married at First Sight’: A Risky Experiment

Even though the entire experiment is a massive risk, we can see that a total of five couples are still together. This is the data for the past seven seasons. Doug Hehner and Jamie Otis have been married since season 1 and are soon to welcome their second baby. They also have a YouTube channel that they run together and have been going strong since the premiere aired.

Then came the rough patch for the show until Ashley Petta and Anthony D’Amico from season 5 tied the knot and gave birth to their daughter. Shawniece Jackson and Jephte Pierre too fell in love in the sixth season. They also have a daughter together. Bobby Dodd and Danielle Bergman from the last season are also together and expecting a child.
On the negative front, Dave Flaherty and Martorana from season 7 have recently filed for a divorce. Even though it doesn’t reflect well on the showrunners when a couple splits up, Martorana describes it as a positive experience. In an interview, she said that she learned a lot from her time with Dave. She wishes him well, and he does the same for Martorana. They have no hard feelings for each other. It was just that the match wasn’t meant to be.

‘Married at First Sight’: Built-In Prenup Agreement

Despite a popular belief, the show just doesn’t throw away two complete strangers without any legal protection to get married. There is a tight built-in prenup that tells the couples they are walking into the marriage with a sense of security. The experts take into account that if a marriage does not work out for any reason, at least the contestants are financially protected. The couples can rest assured that they are not in any kind of legal trouble.

Even though there is no specific amount decided for financial aid, but if the couples get divorced, within a certain amount of time, they are provided with help to cover attorney costs and some other expenses. The Married at First Sight couples are already nervous marrying a complete stranger. This built-in prenup offers them a push to go ahead with the already tough to take a decision.
Whether a couple stays together or not till the end is entirely on the two individuals. This applies to the couples on the show as well as in real life. How helpful do you think the prenup is in this case? Let us know in the comments below.
