Welcome to Plathville: Ethan Explains No Contact With His Family
Season 2 witnesses the family moving completely out of their farm. Ethan finds a new home with his wife Olivia, away from the family. However, he is stumped to know that his parents found a new house close to his. He reveals in the season premiere about his shaking relationship with his parents.
Ethan went on to explain that his parents resented his wife for they saw her casting a bad influence on their children. This led to conflicts and the couple eventually branched out of the family. Ethan added that he and Olivia needed time and space to figure out things. For the same reason, they got away from his family.
Although he misses his siblings, he spilled that he’s dealing with a lot of frustration in his life. He shared regretting not standing for his wife’s integrity when his family disrespected her. At one point in the episode, Olivia mentions that Ethan’s issues with his parents created tensions in their marriage.
Ethan Is Shocked To Find His Parents Close To Him
In an exclusive clip of season 2, Ethan told People that he later found that his parents found a house very close to his. He explained that it just three blocks away i.e. around 0.3 miles away. With that being said, Ethan cannot visit a grocery store without driving past his family. This would, of course, make everything absurd. Olivia added that of all the houses, her husband’s parents had to choose the one close to theirs.
Kim Plath Finds Ethan Stepping Out From Family ‘Devastating’
While Ethan and Olivia stepped out from the following, they were allowed supervised visits with the former’s siblings. On the other hand, Moriah and Micah have also branched out of the family, leading their lives independently. Despite the bitter conflicts, Kim and Barry believe that they were right in sticking to their rules. However, they are disheartened at Ethan, moving away from them. Apparently, the family dynamics have undergone a major shift, with Ethan opting to have no contact with his family. Kim Plath found it devastating!
