Sonny Corinthos’ Blast From The Past
Over the decades that Sonny has been in the front and center of General Hospital, many women have entered his life. While fans believe Carly is the truest love of his life, it would be criminal, not to mention Brenda Barrett. Yes, long before Carly became the apple of Sonny’s eye, Brenda was his sentimental sweetheart. In September 1992, young and beautiful Vanessa Marcil debuted as Brenda on the legacy ABC soap. It did not take her too long to catch the mobster’s eye, and soon Sonny and Brends started a romance. A romance is so intense that it kept fans captivated for years!
Unfortunately, after a successful six-year run, Vanessa left General Hospital. Brenda was written off as dead after a road accident. However, in May 2002, she returned to reprise the role but left once again in 2003. Brenda has not been seen on the soap ever since. However, she has continued to exist vividly in the memories of long-time General Hospital fans. Recently, rumors broke out that the makers are planning to bring Brenda back into the fold and possibly into Sonny’s life. In a recent Tik-Tok session, Vanessa admitted that GH contacted her to return to the show! Does that mean we are about to see Sonny and Brenda revive their 90’s romance?
Is Vanessa Marcil Returning As Brenda To General Hospital?
General Hospital fans went into an ecstatic frenzy when the rumors spiked that Vanessa might return as Brenda. Thus, when Vanessa appeared on a Tik-Tok Live session, fans bombarded her with the very question. The talented performer divulged that the makers indeed offered her a comeback on the show. However, she added that she had declined the offer. While this revelation has definitely put the pin in fans’ hopes of seeing her as Brenda again, it may still not be the end of Brenda Barett.
Speaking further on the matter, Vanessa shared that the makers brought up the idea of a recast, and she gave them the green signal. Hence, the possibility of a recast of Brenda returning to General Hospital is quite high now. But what would that mean for Sonny, Nina, and Carly? We know that Nina has basically dug the grave for her and Sonny’s relationship already. The SEC tip she gave against Carly will definitely come back to bite her. Thus, she and Sonny could be roast duck anytime now! Wouldn’t that be the perfect chance for Brenda to sweep into town? Carly is still dating Drew, thus, Sonny will be single and out of women! So if Brenda was to return, it would be the perfect time for old sparks to fly again!
