The current quarantine scenario has made people revisit some of their favorite shows again. Well, this comedy-drama series surely gives a few of the best nostalgia moments. 2015’s Australian-New Zealand TV series is being rewatched by its fanbase, and everybody’s questioning why it got canceled. Is there any hope for 800 Words Season 4? Here’s everything you need to know about it.
It’s been more than two years since the premiere of 800 Words’ last season. The popular series debuted back in 2015 on Australian television Channel Seven, whereas it aired a year later in the United States. Due to its immense popularity, the Seven Network and South Pacific Pictures renewed the show for a second and later, a third season. However, right in the middle of Season 3, the producers abruptly canceled the program for future installments. Since then, fans have been looking for a ray of hope.
Why Was It Canceled?
The third season started off commercially successful for its creators. It garnered much love from both native and international fans. The first eight episodes of the third season aired from September 2017, while the rest returned after a break in August 2018. 800 Words’ huge fanbase couldn’t believe that their favorite show was canceled. Not just the viewers, but the news shocked the entire cast of the program.
Lead actor Erik Thomson found the situation quite disappointing. He expressed that 800 Words Season 4 could’ve happened, and the series was expected to run for a few more seasons. In fact, the 52-year-old actor revealed that they were planning to jump a year ahead. Aside from him, almost all cast members are unhappy about the sudden cancelation.
While the show creators have not revealed the reason behind the cancelation, Thomson gives a little blame to reality shows. The actor believes that reality tv is currently much more in demand than scripted shows. Hence, they’re given the space that high-potential series like 800 Words deserves. Although like his fans, Thomson also hopes to get back on the set of 800 Words Season 4.
Will ‘800 Words Season 4’ Ever Come Out?
We all know that the highly-rated comedy-drama deserves another shot at the television. In current times, where online platforms like Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video are prevalent, there’s still hope for 800 Words Season 4. These streaming platforms, especially Netflix, have been picking up international shows lately. They have also revived long-dead series that turned out to be much more successful than before.
Besides, in the quarantine (due to Coronavirus outbreak), fans have begun to rewatch this heartwarming series. The demand for a fourth season has comparatively increased. On the other hand, followers are urging Netflix to pick up 800 Words Season 4. As of now, only fans can save the series. The Seven Network, South Pacific Pictures, or any online streaming platform will only revive the series if the demand goes out of hand.
