Fans had been seeking Zombie-content all around the television, and Z Nation’s spin-off series quenched their cravings. Hence, the demand for more seasons went out of hands. Luckily, Netflix is finally ready to give us a Black Summer Season 2. Yes, Jaime King starrer post-apocalyptic show is greenlit and will soon return at the screens. But when will it premiere? Here’s everything to know.
Netflix’s popular series became one of the hottest addition to the list of zombie shows in history. Since it’s a spin-off of 2014’s super-popular Z Nation, it caught many more eyeballs than it could’ve. Black Summer soon became a thing for the lovers of the genre.
Starring Jaime King in the lead, the series takes us to a post-apocalyptic world where humans are struggling to survive the undead. Meanwhile, Rose separates from her daughter Anna. The show mostly revolves around the survivors fighting zombies and the leading lady looking for her child all around. The ending of the debut season leaves us wanting for more to watch.
Black Summer Season 2: Renewal
The debut season arrived on the popular platform back in April 2019. Within weeks, the demand for Black Summer Season 2 rose. Yet, we didn’t hear from the streamer until eight months of the show’s release. Netflix recently declared that they’re finally ready to give us another installment. Fans were all happy to get the news and expressed their delight through social media posts and comments.

What’s About To Happen Next?
As fans guessed, there’s still a lot of plot left for the series to discuss after the first installment. While we apparently get a happy ending, it is practically incomplete. The Season 1 finale reunites Rose to her daughter, which was relieving. However, the characters were pretty much still in a world full of zombies and weren’t safe at all. Hence, we were all wanting to know what’s happening next.
The latest season may perhaps take us further in time where the mother-daughter duo is practicing to survive the undead army. In fact, several other people may join the survivors’ group this time. However, Black Summer Season 2 may not be as simple as it seems. Netflix is infamous for giving surprisingly (or shocking) sequels for some of its highly-popular shows. Hence, be ready for some unexpected plot twists too!
Who’s In The Cast This Season?
As of now, Netflix has confirmed the return of a few of Season 1’s favorite cast members. Well, since she’s the brand-new co-producer of the show, Jaime King, as Rose is destined to be back. Along with her, we’ll also get to see Justin Chu Cary as Spears, and Christine Lee as Kyungsun return to Black Summer Season 2. Besides, Netflix has confirmed that other cast related announcements will soon get official as soon as the series begins production.
The streamer has not mentioned any other names yet. However, we may expect Rose’s daughter Anna in Black Summer Season 2 as well. Although it’s still uncertain if the same child actress will be back or we’d get to see another actress play Anna’s grown-up version. On the other hand, several fans online theorize that Sal Velez Jr. as Williams may return to the latest season. We agree that the character was killed off last season, but there a convincing theory justifying his return. Click here
Black Summer Season 2: Productions & Release Date
The sophomore season of the zombie-apocalyptic show will soon get into productions. Filming will begin next year in Alberta, Canada. Since the shoot is starting pretty late, Black Summer Season 2 may arrive late this time. However, it’s obvious for the series to return sometime in the Summers. As of now, fans may expect the upcoming episodes around mid-2020.
