Black Summer revolves around the most gruesome summer in the lives of the characters of the show. The post-apocalyptic drama debuted back in April 2019 and was instantly picked up by the audience. It is produced by The Asylum and stars a brilliant set of cast members. This includes the highly-talented leading lady, Jaime King.
The series follows King as a mother separated from her daughter during the zombie apocalypse. Her character, Rose embarks on a harrowing journey to find her child, Anna (Zoe Marlett). Other major characters, Spears, Sun, William, and Lance, deal with the deadliest summer ever alongside Rose as the leader. This small group of humans gives the undead a really tough fight.

Netflix usually takes atleast a month to greenlit a new series. It has already been a few months since Black Summer debuted and fans are getting worried for its return. The renewal mostly depends upon the performance and impact on the audience. However, Netflix’s zombie-drama gained much popularity amongst the masses in just a few months of release. Thus, it holds a higher chance to be back for a second run.
Moreover, in a recent interview, actor Sal Velez Jr spoke to Express.co.uk about his character William. He expressed his views and plans for the upcoming season. This hints that makers and cast members are already thinking about Black Summer Season 2. Also, the showrunners are waiting for confirmation by Netflix as well. Fans just need to be patient for a while as their favorite series may soon return to their screens again.
Where Is William And Is He Alive?
We all had doubts when one of our favorite characters from the first installment died in the series finale. The undead infected William, and Rose had to kill him before it affects him entirely. She had to shoot him in the head, and it seemed like it was the last time we see him. Although, as per actor Sal Velez Jr, the character may make a comeback as iconic as Jon Snow’s revival in HBO’s Games Of Thrones.
William’s death was pretty much unbelievable for the actor as well. Besides, he believes that his character may make a comeback as we didn’t actually see him dying in the show. However, he stated that this is a general belief and disagrees with confirming his return. Velez Jr performance in the show was truly commendable. Moreover, it led to Netflix putting the actor forward for consideration for an Emmy Award.
When Will Black Summer Season 2 Release On Netflix?
Currently, there is no official announcement related to the return of the show on the streaming platform. Netflix is yet to greenlit Black Summer Season 2, which makes it difficult to predict a release date. Although, most of the shows on the streamer take nearly a year to return. Hence, there are chances that the new season may premiere around early to mid-2020.
