The comedy-drama series first premiered on February 1, 2019, and follows Nadia Vulvokov, a game developed who dies again and again. She relives the same night in a time loop while trying to solve it. The first season of the series was quite a hit. What is happening next? Keep reading to find out!
Has The Production Started?
So now, we know that a second season is happening. Speaking about the production status of the show, Reports suggested that Russian Doll was due for filming in March 2020, however, then COVID-19 happened, and it impacted the production of the series. The creator of the show, Natasha Lyonne, revealed in an interview that they had had plenty of brainstorming. She says that she is very excited about the early conversations she has had. They are looking forward to seeing where these conversations take them. The creator revealed that the early notes of the series are quite heavy.
Now, we do not have any official confirmation about the production status of the show. Assuming that the creators have already completed the pre-production for the second season. So, if the creators start the production for Russian Doll Season 2 sometime in 2021, we can expect to see new episodes of the season sometime in early 2022.
Russian Doll Season 2: What Would Happen Next?
The first season of Russian Doll was pretty open-ended that left viewers are interpreting what was happening next. The final moments of the season saw Alan and Nadia as they somehow managed to outdo their realities. They, later on, were reunited. What would happen next? Here is what we think about it.
The Story Continues with Nadia and Alan
Allen and Nadia became really close in the first season, with both of them helping one another to become better people. Adan and Nadia’s purpose was to escape the loop that looked like they were saving each other. Potentially, they utilized the timelines depending on how the viewers interpret the ending.
If Russian Doll Season 2 continues with the story of Alan and Nadia, with their timelines crossed, they might be reunited. It is very hard to see where this story would go. This is because both of these characters had to opportunity to experience character growth. So, regressing seems like a poor choice for both of them.
The first season also saw more details about Nadia’s past than we came to know about Alan. So, it is possible that we might get to know more about that. Viewers might also get to witness Nadia as she thinks about being with John and accept his family. So, that is a story arc we might get to see next.
Upcoming Instalment Will Feature More Struggles
Natasha Lyonne, who plays the character of Nadia Vulvoko, revealed that some serious struggles would come up in the next season. In an interview with IndieWire, the actress revealed that the show clearly has some legs. The show is somewhat autobiographical, and the second season will tell more about Lyonne’s past issues and addictions. The actress also indicated that the second season would see these characters as they start feeling that there is more life to live. Lyonne says that for a character who has died so many times, living the life certainly seems more interesting.
Multiple Versions Of the Same Character Might Take On The Screen
Lyonne also hinted that viewers might get to see multiple versions of the characters walking around in the season. Depending on how these characters escape their loops. In the interview, the actress says that the question of how many versions of these characters could be? That is something that one must consider.
