Netflix’s new venture into sex comedy turned out to be one of the most memorable shows back in January 2019. Sex Education became the breakout series of the year with viewership as high as 40 million. Hence, the demand for a second outing was pretty high after its debut. The platform ended up renewing the series for another run, which took a year until January 17, 2020, to hit the screens. Now that the installment has released, how are the fans reacting?
Sex Education Season 2: Spoiler-Free Review
The second season of Sex Education turned out to be much more interesting than we all expected. It is super fun and full of explicit content in the most comical way possible. Well, the performances have also improved to a large extent as compared to the debut season.
The mother-son relationship between Jean and Otis is the highlight of the entire season. Gillian Anderson and Asa Butterfield have given beautiful performances. On the other hand, Connor Swindells, as the shy and secretly bisexual Adam, stands out the most as he takes the big step in the finale. Well, we have to give a lot of credit to the writer as well. Creator Laurie Nunn has put much effort into molding the characters into the story, and the results are exceptional.

Sex Education Season 3 Is Already In The Works!
Fans worrying about the future of the amazing show must now be relieved. The creator of the series, Laurie Nunn, confirms that Sex Education Season 3 is already in the works. While speaking to LadBible, she reveals that she has already begun writing the new season. Nunn adds that it is a normal part of the process as the schedule is usually tight, and the team has to be prepared beforehand.
The creator explains that she loves writing these characters. The big ensemble and theme of the show offer endless story opportunities. However, it is important to notice that Netflix is yet to announce the official renewal. Hence, despite Nunn beginning the writing process, fans still have to wait for a confirmation from the streamer.
However, looking at its popularity, chances for the renewal of Sex Education Season 3 are touching the roof. In fact, like last year, Netflix may soon wave the green flag in a few weeks after Season 2 release.
Is This The Final Season?
While a Sex Education Season 3 renewal seems extremely likely, we can’t assure if there will be more seasons or not. However, writer Laurie Nunn has much more expectations from her show. She revealed to Popbuzz that she would like to continue the series for more installments ahead. Although Nunn also adds that it has to end somewhere.
She explains that she already has an ending in her mind. Nunn would like to continue Sex Education until the characters pass out of school and move to university. Moreover, she believes that teen shows should stop before university as it’s odd to see 30-years olds play teenagers. Well, as of now, all we can hope is to get at least a couple of seasons before the Moordale kids graduate.
When Will ‘Sex Education Season 3’ Release?
As of now, the streamer is yet to announce an official renewal. Hence, we do not have a firm air date either. However, most of Netflix’s ground-breaking shows seem to follow an annual release pattern. In fact, both of the initial seasons of Sex Education debuted in January of 2019 and 2020, respectively. Thus, Season 3 is likely to hit the screens sometime around January 2021.
