The longtime dedicated treasure seeker, who gave his precious years to find the treasure at Oak Island, passed away at the age of 95, last March. To bid him beautiful farewell, Rick decided not to work on Saturdays. As he stated, “Strange things happened to Dan over his 50-plus years, but only on Sundays. His wife made him promise not to work on Sundays. We continue to adhere to that.” In the premiere episode, the team is shown trying to process the idea about having the first year in half a century when Dan Blankenship will not be part of the search.

Adding to the news, the treasure hunt team of Oak Island has partnered up fully with fellow landowner Tom Nolan, the son of the late Fred Nolan. Therefore now, the team has access to more areas of the island where they can search and find the answers. Also, the team will use a much more powerful metal detection technique to explore the surface area of the island. And exhaustive archaeological digs will also conduct near the historic homestead foundations of Daniel McGinnis and Samuel Ball.
