It’s been a while since Alliya and Shawn became familiar faces on 90 Day Fiance. The couple began their journey when the former had just started her transition process. Shawn was earlier in love with Douglas, but she then came out as Alliya and expressed that she is trans. The change has been difficult for Shawn to get accustomed to, but he has been trying his best to be supportive.
In a new episode, Alliya expressed her disappointment. She didn’t like it when her partner, Shawn, would refer to her with her ‘dead name’, Douglas. Well, it was someone Shawn had fallen in love with first. So, it was hard for him to accept that he would have to completely forget Alliya’s earlier identity to accept her new one. It was quite a messy situation to be in.

Shawn and Alliya have a lot to work through in their relationship. Well, Shawn, a gay man, developed feelings for Alliya when she previously identified as male before her transition. Hence, it’s been a confusing territory for him to spend time and understand Alliya all over again. Together, in a new 90 Day Fiance episode, they went to a doctor. That’s because they want to go through a gender affirming surgery.
Earlier, Shawn thought that Alliya would only go for something minor like a butt implant or something. But she wanted to get more work done to look feminine and feel “happy” when she looked into the mirror. So, she had “procedments and hormones” in her mind. Finally, Shawn said that he had doubts, but if these surgeries were steps that led to Alliya being more than 100% herself, then he would be “here for it.”
This big step has added one more layer of confusion to their relationship. Everyone is wondering how it would work. Shawn had not introduced Alliya to his family and friends earlier. Well, that came off as a major red flag. Many also wonder why, despite knowing Shawn is a gay man, Alliya wants to continue her relationship with him, especially when she wants to transition completely.
