Earlier in Coronation Street, we saw that Evelyn landed herself in legal trouble. Initially, Evelyn was arrested for assaulting Terry, the dog abuser, but she is unaware that her daughter Cassie Plummer is the real culprit. Meanwhile, Cassie, withholding the truth about her involvement, continues to lie even after learning of Evelyn’s arrest. Evelyn is still at unease about the arrest. The situation leads to more trust issues in their already strained mother-daughter relationship
Later in Coronation Street, Evelyn’s suspicion grows when she sees Cassie spending money on dinner. However, Cassie fabricates a story about a work-related pay raise to explain. Additionally, in the investigation of Terry’s assault case, a new witness comes forward and provides an alibi for Evelyn. Evelyn is off the hook, but Cassie is on edge. To make things worse for her, Hope Stape catches Cassie with the stolen money. Cassie did try to hush Hope by bribing her with presents. But the situation got intense when Tyrone Dobbs confirmed that Cassie had not received any raises at the Coronation Street garage.
By now, Evelyn has already understood the entire thing. She expressed that she was almost sure that Cassie had something to do with Terry’s assault.
