Coronation Street Star Antony Cotton Sparks Controversy On Live TV
Coronation Street star Antony Cotton recently appeared in a Good Morning Britain Interview alongside Liam McCheyne. The highlight of the interview was Cotton’s reaction when presenter Kate Garraway broached the topic of using AI technology to write soap scripts.
The actors joined Garraway to discuss the ongoing bullying storyline in Coronation Street. However, the interview fired up when Garraway mentioned an earlier topic discussed by entertainment editor Richard Arnold. The debate was about whether AI-generated scripts could potentially replace traditional soap opera writers.
Garraway posed a direct question to Cotton and McCheyne, inquiring about the possibility of performing plots generated by AI. In response, Cotton expressed, “Oh, this subject. I’d rather try and get free train travel for our armed forces personnel [and talk about that] as a subject.”
Meanwhile, Coronation Street star McCheyne admitted his lack of familiarity with such technology. Additionally, Cotton echoed concerns about society’s growing tendency to instill fear in people. He stated, “Human beings are not gonna switch on to watch a soap opera or a returning drama and know it’s not a real person.”
As the conversation veered towards a different topic, Cotton made a quirky comment about the shift. Soon after, Cotton attempted to steer the conversation about his campaign for free travel for the military until the show moved on to other segments.
