Days of Our Lives was perhaps not prepared for the heartbreaking blow of actor John Aniston’s passing. But then who ever is? John has been an integral past of the soap’s narrative for multiple decades as the iconic Victor Kiriakis. His and Stefano DiMera’s rivalry was one that Daytime will remember forever. Thus, when John passed away, it became almost certain that his character Victor will meet his end too, on the soap. As getting in a recast would never have floated anyway.
That being said, the makers took their time to pen down the perfect send-off for the Salem legend on Days of Our Lives. His memorial marked the return of many past characters. After all, over the years, the Kiriakis clan has grown leaps and bounds. Despite the plenty returns, there was still something left lacking. For instance, we would have loved to see Bo at the funeral. Oh, and also Ciara. But that couldn’t happen. Even though Ciara actually was supposed to be a part of the memorial!
In a recent revelation made by one of Days of Our Lives writers, it came to light that the original script of Victor’s memorial had to be tweaked to accommodate the circumstances. Many viewers were quite surprised to see Chelsea arrive in town for her grandfather’s funeral. While, on paper it seems like the absolutely right thing. But considering she had been off the canvas since 2009, it was rather surprising. However, one thing that was even more surprising was her speech! She talked about her father, Bo Brady’s, struggle with his Kiriakis and Brady ties.
Days of Our Lives: Chelsea Filled In For Ciara, Claims DOOL Writer
Fans were quick to point that that stretch of story panned out way before Chelsea ever appeared on Days of Our Lives. Thus, it felt odd to hear her speak about it as though she witnessed it. As it turns out, Chelsea was never meant to deliver that speech. DOOL’s writer Jamey Giddens divulged that the speech was actually written for Ciara. Unfortunately, actress Victoria Konefal had a tight schedule and couldn’t attend the memorial. Thus, Rachel Melvin filled in for her as Chelsea.
Furthermore, the writer revealed that a Ciara-Theresa confrontation was also to happen on Days of Our Lives. According to the original writing, Theresa would have lunged at Ciara. Ripping into her over Ben killing her niece. However, Ciara would have defended Ben saying he is just not the same person anymore. Unfortunately, we couldn’t see that happen. It really would have been wonderful to see Ciara on the screen again! Moreover, a interaction between her and Alex would’ve been quite cheeky!
However, just because it couldn’t happen back then, does not mean it can’t happen in the future! We would like to hold on to hope that Ciara and Bo, both will return to Salem at some point!
