When BJ confronted Kendra the next morning, she tearfully agreed that all the rules put a lot of pressure on a non-Amish person like her.

However, looking back at Kendra’s action, one can ask how many of the rules she followed. Viewers and fans watched her struggle the minute things got difficult. When Matt returned, she immediately went on a date with him, then agreed to spend more time with him at a motel. She left the community. Later, she played the victim when BJ held her accountable. The trust remains that she wanted a taste of the Amish experience, and the minute it strayed from that, she departed.

In a recent Instagram upload, Kendra Bates goes on record to state the reason for her departure. The Suddenly Amish star opened by informing viewers that there are two aspects of reality TV: living as an Amish person, which is challenging, and the show component. She also reminded everyone that viewers only see the edited part; not every conversation makes it into the final cut.

Kendra also clearly stated that she left for herself. She joined the cast to connect with her Mennonite roots and to be part of the experience. However, while the show was challenging in itself, there were components she wasn’t comfortable with. So instead of staying just for the “show purposes,” she left. Kendra claimed she gathered the experience she needed, though.

However, she did not go into detail about what really happened that led her to leave. She did say that if certain things hadn’t happened the way they did, she wouldn’t have the growth. But she is grateful for the opportunity to meet everyone and be a part of the Amish community. Kendra’s life has changed so much, and her experience with the Amish has changed her in so many ways.
