However, life had other plans. Early on, they faced two heartbreaking miscarriages. Melissa bravely talked about her struggles with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a condition that affects hormones and the ability to have healthy eggs. She also had Silent Endometriosis, a painful condition that’s often not easily detected.
“I pretty much had everything wrong,” Melissa confessed. But she was not one to give up easily. With hope she started the tough journey of in-vitro fertilization (IVF). However, her IVF journey was also not so easy. “All of the shots, and pills, and blood thinners, and acupuncture, and appointments…it is a very hopeless feeling with fertility,” she shared, echoing the sentiments of many who have walked a similar path. However, the story took a turn towards hope when, after several failed attempts, Melissa and Matt’s fourth IVF transfer resulted in pregnancy.
For Melissa, finally getting pregnant was nothing short of a miracle. “It’s incredible. It’s a miracle,” she exclaimed.
