General Hospital: Could Esme Be Faking Her Amnesia? Fans Weigh In!

Esme has had a very questionable past on General Hospital. She has pulled some really devious and unbelievable stunts on the soap. So pulling a fast one by faking a medical condition isn’t something we would put past her. Interestingly, her bio-dad, Ryan Chamberlain, faked his Locked-in Syndrome for years! And as the popular saying goes, an apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! So we really wouldn’t be surprised if a couple of episodes down the line, Esme revealed that she actually remembers everything!

There is a definite possibility that she did suffer from Amnesia when the doctors first diagnosed her with it on General Hospital. The way she had been behaving, even all by her lonesome, pointed towards her condition being genuine. Her discomfort and fears regarding Ryan and Heather seemed real too. However, we also cannot reject the fact that she may have regained her memories sometime after that. Maybe even after getting triggered by Heather’s letter. Esme could now be choosing to keep her recovery a secret.

Not too long ago, we at TV Seasons and Spoilers spelled out all the benefits that Esme gets to collect as long as she remains amnesiac. Including staying free from prison and getting an upper hand at Ace’s custody. A stroll across social media showed us that we are not alone in doubting Esme’s amnesia story! Many General Hospital fans seem to believe that Esme is now faking the medical condition. However, there are some that feel she is still suffering from it and is not pulling a fast one.

A Reddit user, Matuatay, believes that Esme is indeed faking it on General Hospital. Furthermore, they propose that she could be getting her memories back slowly and is playing it off. Meanwhile, another user, Hashibaby88, thinks that Esme really has amnesia. Because if she didn’t, her odd behavior with Ryan and Esme wouldn’t make sense. Moreover, if she was faking it, she would’ve shared with her father. Ryan would have approved!

In a recent General Hospital episode, Esme tried to take the baby and flee. However, Cam interrupted her escape attempt. This scene seems to have confused a lot of fans. They are confused that if Esme isn’t faking, why would she feel the urge to run away from the people trying to help her care for her baby? That really does seem like a valid point! Meanwhile, some fans are countering that amnesia or no amnesia, it makes total sense for Esme to try and flee. After all, a powerful and resourceful family like the Cassadines are trying to snatch her baby away from her! Victor is so wretched, he just cannot be trusted! So it makes total sense that she is petrified and wants to flee with Ace.

General Hospital makers really have kept the lid quite tight on the pot with this one! It really is getting hard to speculate whether or not Esme is faking her amnesia. What do you think?
