The Young and The Restless : Patty Weaver (Gina Roma) Talks All Things Soap

The Young and The Restless 50th-anniversary celebrations are in full swing at the moment. Many iconic characters are back on the screen for the glamorous affair. Actress Patty Weaver is also back on the soap as Gina Roma after a long time. Previously, actor Michael Damian had returned as Danny over Christmas but did not stay long. Meanwhile, his son Daniel has made a more permanent return to GC. However, now that the Romalotti siblings are back for the Gala, the family will have a long overdue reunion on the CBS soap!

Patty Weaver, as Gina, has been an integral part of The Young and The Restless and has a lot to reflect upon her journey on the soap. Recently, she sat for a chat with TV Insider and spoke about what Y&R means to her, and to so many other people who have worked tirelessly on it for years. Patty reflected that soaps in general, have a huge impact on people. But The Young and The Restless, in particular, has changed many lives. Patty added that when she returned to the sets of Y&R, she was thinking back on the soap’s co-creators, Bill and Lee Bell. “They created this whole environment. People have had jobs and careers because of them,” she pointed.

Patty believes that the people connected with The Young and The Restless have worked so hard for so long on the soap that it’s not just a job for them anymore. It has become more than that and runs much deeper. Working so closely together for so long makes people family and not just co-workers. Patty has not been on The Young and The Restless, as Gina has been on contract since 2005. In fact, it’s been over a decade since her last appearance. But that in no way has dimmed her love for the soap.

Patty agrees that it has been a while since she has been on The Young and The Restless. However, “there are some things that time doesn’t blunt,” she rightly states. She insists that the famous CBS soap has been a huge part of her life. Patty points out that it was amazing to meet all her former co-stars and the new cast members as well. She admits that she is a naturally shy person but found it really easy to go and say Hi to people on the set. The Young and The Restless vet shared that it was great to catch up with Michael (Damian), it was like seeing family.

Moreover, Patty insists that this sense of family runs through the DNA of soap operas. Not just amongst the cast and characters but also radiates out of to TV screen to the audience. The Young and The Restless star believes that people watch soaps almost as a form of family. “Soaps provide consistency in people’s lives, and we have such little consistency,” she asserted. Patty concluded her chat by hoping that networks never stop airing soaps. And we second her on that! Do you also agree? Let us know in the comments. Meanwhile, watch out for the upcoming episode to see Danny and Gina return on The Young and The Restless.
