That’s because the man had more than 20 wives, most of whom were minor girls. He was also responsible for child abuse and sex trafficking. This case came into the limelight and revealed that Arizona has strict laws about polygamous marriages.
So fans began to wonder if Kody could face an arrest, too, for breaking the laws. Back then, he had not made his separation from Meri and Janelle public. Hence, a theory suggests that the celebrity polygamist did so to avoid the chances of also serving jail time for breaking laws.
