The Sister Wives audience has often felt that Kody Brown is trying to hang Meri in between. However, Sunday’s one-on-one of the three-part special has revealed Kody’s struggle with Meri. The patriarch himself tells the host that he won’t ever get back with the first wife. The host, Sukanya, says it is hard to hear that Kody has nothing to talk about in his relationship with Meri. Kody says marriage with Meri was super hard, and he doesn’t know why they were in it. The family head refers to the catfishing scandal that shook his marriage. He says the two of them did a lot of counseling and therapy. However, in the end, the conclusion came down to a rotting relationship.
Kody told Meri that he did not see them getting “back together.” He further explains why he won’t get back together is because things will go back as they were. And Kody said, “There’s just no chance that I ever want that again.” Sukanya questions Kody and says he should leave Meri if that’s the point. However, the polygamous husband replies that it will be a double standard. He says, “They can leave whenever they want, I can’t.” Sukanya jumps in and says that Kody has already abandoned her emotionally. Kody takes offense to it and brings on Meri’s affair. When Meri had an affair, he said she was ready to “leave his ass.”
He goes on further to explain that Meri was adamant about leaving him. However, when she realized she had been duped, the family protected her. Kody adds that Meri sees herself as a victim, although she is wrong. He even stated that she wouldn’t have been the victim if she hadn’t done something wrong.

Meri says she thought they did and that Kody understood where she was coming from. Then, the host says that Kody felt Meri was leaving him. The first wife agrees that, yes, he did think that way. However, she says she wasn’t going to leave him. She even said that she considered all her options at that time.
Further, she explains herself and says she needed to figure out what she wanted to do. However, Meri clarifies and says she did talk to a stranger and found a friend in him. However, she wouldn’t leave the family just because she found love online. Many people think of it as a fracture in Meri and Kody’s relationship. But to Meri, it wasn’t.
