In a recent Reddit post, fans of Suddenly Amish are applauding Bille Jo for being an ally to Judah. Judah is conflicted about coming out as bisexual in the community. Bille Jo wants to start a conversation and gently nudge the Amish toward greater LGBTQ acceptance.
Fans see Bille Jo as someone who doesnt mince her words. She doesnt hold back on her words. She isn’t afraid to call anyone out, as she did with Kendra. Honestly, her honesty and having a more progressive stance on the issue are what fans love about her. Keep reading to see what the fans are saying.
In the latest episode of Suddenly Amish, Bille Jo and Esmeralda learn a basic Amish skill – sewing their own menstrual pads. They met Sarah in the barn, who informed them. Billie Jo even double-checks to make sure she heard that right. Sarah explains that if they want to live the Amish way, they need to learn traditional skills like this. She shows them how she layers four pieces of terry cloth, sewing towel material, and fabric together to create a thick, reusable pad.
At first, BJ admits in her confessional that the idea feels “gross.” Soon after, she adds that it’s not too gross if one uses this for a long time. Esmeralda later asks Sarah if tampons arent a thing in the Amihs. Sarah says some women do, but it’s not that common. Esmeralda adds that the sewn menstrual pads are organic, sustainable, and more eco-friendly, do not contain any harsh chemicals, and don’t contain microplastics.
In a new clip, Suddenly Amish cast member Bille Jo opens up a conversation with James and Allen about sexuality. The reality star shares that her friends back home are homosexuals, and it makes her feel bad to live in a community that stands against LGBTQ people. The honest, open conversation was enough for a fan to make a Bille Jo appreciation post on Reddit. The OP posted, “Let’s take a moment to celebrate BJ.” They also wrote, “She modeled what allyship actually looks like: steady, brave, and rooted in compassion.”
Fans showed up and penned what they thought of the scene. One fan pointed out that the scene warmed her heart. Fans know she really wanted to be Amish. Yet, she” is willing to walk away if they can’t accept gays/bis, “which is heartwarming.” Fans also love that she “she wanted to bring up the subject to feel out the response and push towards them hopefully being supportive and accepting without outing Judah.” Bille Jo stated in the confessional that she needs to show up for Judah as he has been her friend and right-hand man in the community.
She felt she needed to test the Amish waters. She even commented on the Amish stance on LGBTQ. Allen said it’s not biblical to be gay, but he has nothing against them. These words were enough to answer Bille Jo’s question. The fact that Bille Jo was brave enough to start the conversation came as a surprise to Judah, as he didn’t have the courage to do so himself.
