In the memoir, she opened up about a pivotal moment of her life before meeting Brock Davies in 2019.  The moment when she met a mysterious woman, with whom she had a deep emotional and physical bond.

The star met a woman at the Stagecoach music festival, whom she refers to as ‘DD’. Shay noted, “We were essentially just friends who drunkenly made out often.” Simultaneously, she mentioned that their relationship evolved into something meaningful and valuable in a very short time. She stated, “It felt like we’d known each other for years. We just had this instant connection.”

Shay admitted the complexity of the whole equation left her with an identity crisis. “Was I bisexual? Was I just attracted to her?” she reflected. The celeb continued stating that she had never had intense feelings for any woman before she met DD. Despite her confusion, her journey to explore had to pause when she met Brock. “I didn’t want to admit I was falling for Brock because I was just getting comfortable exploring things with a woman,” she wrote.

The whole unnamed relationship between Shay and DD eventually ended when Brock witnessed them kissing. Shay knew she had put her foot down with DD. The decision was extremely painful, but she says she had no regrets. She added, “Brock was my person; he still is.”
